I have a question about drying hemp. I i’m in the propane business and deliver thousands of gallons to hemp dryers every year and always wondered why now that every thing is legit why does no one use natural gas? It sure seems like it would be more convenient and probably half the price. What am I missing ?
Great question. We run a hemp harvesting and drying business in Oregon and utilize propane dryers. Our natural gas’s company supply lines end 2 miles up the road from our farm. They said they could trench and extend the line to our facility, but we’d have to cover the cost of roughly $1.4m. They then proceeded to nonchalantly ask how we’d like to pay for it, check or card? Insane for just 2 miles! That left us with propane. It adds up quick; going through 6,000 gallons/week for 60 days. Any hemp drying business would choose NG instead of propane if given the option. Hope this helped answer your question!
