A new chapter of industrial hemp production in Montana was underlined Thursday at a groundbreaking ceremony in Fort Benton. There, a small gathering of dignitaries headlined by Montana Sen. Jon Tester praised the future construction of the largest hemp processing facility of its type in the U.S.
Once completed, the IND HEMP Fiber decortication facility will have the capacity to process upwards of five tons of hemp per hour, transforming the long, fibrous stalks of the plant into a base product suitable for textile, insulation and composite plastics production.
